Update: Gaming Classic from 1940s gets a modern makeover for Gen Z

Scrabble is now 75 years old, but it is still very popular among many board game fans today. However, many adults, especially young ones, no longer seem to be able to get used to the normal gameplay of the classic. Accordingly, Mattel is launching a new Scrabble variant that should appeal to Gen Z in particular.

Scrabble is a real board game classic, but it often causes discussions while playing. Does the word “score” borrowed from English count? What about exclamations or abbreviations? Accordingly, manufacturer Mattel has decided to bring a new version of Scrabble onto the market in which it the classic points system no longer exists:

The new version is named “Scrabble Together”. Instead of getting points for every word you place, Scrabble Together has so-called goal cards. These include tasks such as “Create a word with three letters” or “Create a word with two vowels”.

The goal of the game: Solve a total of 20 of these tasks together with the other players. Each player has to play a word at least one of the tasks fulfill. If this is not the case, the game is over.

There are also ways to get out of dead ends little helper cards. These allow players to swap letters, change task cards or completely replace their letters.
