Title: Is GTA 5 Coming to Nintendo Switch? Exploring the Hopes and Realities

GTA 5 on Nintendo Switch? Players dream of it and fans have achieved this feat thanks to GTA 6 leaks. But the project is shaky to say the least.

GTA 5 has sold more than 195 million copies, all versions combined. Incredible figures which are constantly increasing and which are staggering. Who on this planet doesn't own a Rockstar Games game today? We wish we were a little mouse to have the details of these incredible sales. But despite the perpetual success, Take-Two and the developers did not see fit to release solo DLC, or even a Nintendo Switch version. And it gave ideas to Internet users who embarked on a crazy project.

A portable version of GTA 5 exists but…

If you are an avid reader of Gameblog, you have surely followed the series of GTA 6 leaks. A young teenager, belonging to the Lapsus group, managed to invade Rockstar Games' servers and stole ultra-sensitive data. This is how the first gameplay videos of Grand Theft Auto 6, in pre-alpha version, spread on the Web. Take-Two Interactive thought it had experienced the worst, but a year later, this hack took a different turn. The complete source code for GTA 5 has found its way onto the web. Lunar leaks for an absurd affair.

The publisher was unable to do anything, and unsurprisingly, the GTA 5 code ended up in the hands of tinkerers. The Superstar South modding team embarked on a crazy project several months ago: running Grand Theft Auto V on Nintendo Switch. Even though no version exists, not even at Rockstar. After many tries, that's it, GTA 5 can be started on Switch. And this is a big step forward because some time ago, modders couldn't get the application to work. On the other hand, don't expect to be able to restart a game on Big N's nomad.

As shown in the video clip below, this unofficial “port” is anything but functional, unless you don't mind the slide format. It's indeed super jerky, and as before, GTA 5 ends up crashing. But it's still surprising. In another X post, Superstar South explains that the console runs with the frequency of the Switch's portable mode, without overclocking. Will this team be able to do better? Response in the coming months, even if we see Take-Two taking legal action to have all of this removed.
