While the writers fight for their rights and better conditions, Marvel is forced to put the brakes on this project.
For the first time since 2007, screenwriters are on strike in the United States. The working conditions of the trades are only deteriorating in the country, while wages stagnate and the threat of artificial intelligence is fast approaching. In order to regulate employee rights and guarantee good living conditions, screenwriters have been paralyzing Hollywood for four weeks now.
While talk shows are already on hold, the impact on television and film productions is beginning to be felt. One by one, the biggest studios find themselves blocked, enough to advance the demands of the strikers. We learned recently that the development of the final season of Stranger Things was on break. Now it’s the turn of the Marvel team to review its plans. One of the biggest feature films to come in the studio’s schedule cannot continue production at this time.
Antiheroes must wait
In the plot of the newMultiverse Saga” started in 2021 with Wanda Vision, a film has captured the attention of fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Last year, the studio unveiled the project Thunderboltsa team of “heroes” that comic book fans know as THE Suicide Squad by Marvel. This group of renegades formed by Valentina Allegra will give its hour of glory to the fallen faces of the universe.
Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) Red Guardian (David Harbour), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), task master (Olga Kurylenko) and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) will form a completely barred derivative of the Avengers. If this troop has something to dream about, we will have to take our troubles patiently. While filming was to begin in three weeks in Atlanta, Marvel made the decision to wait until the end of the strike.
The studio is betting big on its new feature films in order to rebuild the image it had before. A surplus of too superficial series and films have cost a lot in the image of superheroes. Now that Disney is changing its strategy to choose quality over quantity, this break comes as no surprise. Guardians of the Galaxy vol.3 has already started a strong MCU comeback. The production teams for Thunderbolts therefore cannot afford a half-hearted scenario. Even if this is already established, the scriptwriters continue to intervene throughout the filming process in order to ensure good continuity.
As a reminder, Marvel has also decided to put the brakes on pre-production on the film. Bladewhich has already experienced some internal problems after a change of director.
Why does artificial intelligence worry screenwriters?
