The Witcher (Netflix): Fifth season and start of filming for season 4 confirmed

Fans of The Witcher on Netflix have reason to be happy: production on the fourth season has finally started. The streaming service has also officially confirmed the fifth season.

Witcher Geralt is preparing to return to the streaming service Netflix. The streaming giant officially confirmed the start of production on the fourth season today, so something is finally happening on this front. As is well known, you will have to get used to it, because Henry Cavill will be replaced in the main role as the witcher Geralt by Liam Hemsworth.

Filming for Season 4 has now started in Great Britain. The story based on Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy book series, which also serves as a template for CD Projekt RED's extremely successful video game series, is now being continued there. Despite the controversial recasting of the lead role in fan circles, it's good news: Netflix has also confirmed that there will definitely be a fifth season of The Witcher, after which the TV series about witchers, magicians and monster hunters will come to an end.

The fifth season will be produced directly after season 4, so it shouldn't be too long in coming. Taken together, both outstanding seasons address the remaining volumes of the book series called “Baptism of Fire”, “The Swallow Tower” and “The Lady of the Lake”. Netflix itself promises nothing less than an “epic conclusion to the most successful fantasy drama” on the platform.

So what is season 4 about? The official synopsis is as follows: After the shocking, world-changing events of the third season, the fourth season follows the different paths of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri, who, separately from each other, have to traverse the war-ravaged continent with its many demons. If they manage to win over and lead the groups of outsiders among which they find themselves, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire and finding one another again.
