The speaker from Snip Snip has already been heard in a very similar role

In the world of Fallout, robots are often more than just obedient assistants or deadly fighting machines. Instead, they have a character (usually dependent on their programming) and sometimes pursue their own goals.

The same applies to the droids in Star Wars: With their peculiarities, they grow close to our hearts just as much as more human characters. So it's quite fitting that an actor voices both a robot in the Fallout series and in the Star Wars universe.

Beware of spoilers: The following is about events from episodes 4 and 6 of the Fallout series. If you haven't looked this far, then it's best not to read any further and instead watch our spoiler-free video:

Who is the person you are talking about?

In episode 4 of the Fallout series, Lucy (Ella Purnell) meets a very polite robot named Snip Snip. However, it quickly turns out that the name of Mr. Handy (that's what the model is called) also says it all. Because Snip Snip belongs to an organ trafficking ring to which the ghoul (Walton Goggins) sold Lucy – and has a screw or two loose.

In the original the robot is the actor Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows, The IT Crowd), who then appears again in episode 6 of the series, but as a human. Here Berry plays an actor who reports having lent his voice to Mr. Handys.

Some time ago, Berry already held a very similar role in the Star Wars series The Book of Boba Fett. Here he voices the droid 8D8, who is now in the service of Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) after the death of Jabba the Hutt.

And aside from its tinny nature, 8D8 also resembles the Fallout robot in its field of operation: While Snip Snip harvests organs from victims of the organ trafficking ring, 8D8 tortures Jabba's droid minions. However, this less than pleasant job is over under Boba Fett, as the robot becomes Fett's advisor.

Incidentally, 8D8 appears for the first time in Return of the Jedi from 1983. Of course, it's not voiced here by Matt Berry, who was only nine years old at the time.

The Book of Boba Fett is often overshadowed by its big sister series The Mandalorian. This is also shown by the anecdote linked above: an actress in the series was not even aware on set that her own Boba Fett series was being filmed. Are you more of a fan of Fallout than Star Wars? Then we have also linked exciting articles about the game and series above.
