The Fallout series is not tarnishing the legacy of video games

Some video game fans fallout accused the series broadcast on Amazon Prime Video of calling into question the place of the opus New Vegas in the saga. Bethesda reiterated that everything was canon.

Series fallout, which many people agree on since its exclusive broadcast on Amazon Prime Video, shares the same universe as the video game saga of the same name. The creators started with an original story, which takes place several centuries after the nuclear disaster serving as a starting point for all the events. They allowed themselves some easter eggs tasty, as well as clarifications on certain mysteries.

In the official Fallout timeline, the series takes place after all the games released so far. This implies that the writers must respect everything that has happened in the various video game productions released since 1997. On this subject, one point bothers some fans. Because of a frieze seen in an episode, the series would rewrite the history of Fallout: New Vegas (which was not developed by Bethesda). This is not the case, Todd Howard, head of Bethesda, said in an interview published on IGN on April 17.

There is no concern for consistency with video games in the Fallout series

In episode 6 of fallout, when Lucy visits shelter number 4, we discover events linked to dates, written on a chalk board. We thus read that the Shady Sands colony, territory of a powerful faction (the Republic of New California, or RNC), experienced its fall in 2277. This is where an inconsistency arises in the eyes of some, who believe that the fall of Shadow Sands corresponds to the bomb that destroyed it. A tragedy that occurred after Fallout: New Vegasor around 2282, according to this well-documented Wiki page. This confusion over dates suggests that what is happening in Fallout: New Vegaswhere the RNC plays a central role, is completely obscured by the series.

In reality, we should definitely not attribute the year 2277 to the moment when the bomb on Shady Sands was launched. Even if the painting seen in the series fallout is not perfectly clear, we can see that 2277 corresponds to the fall of the colony, an event which will be followed by its destruction by a bomb (the direction indicated by the arrow, which points towards an immense cloud). The writers just didn't take the trouble to properly explain this timeline (or to put a year under the cloud), certainly forgetting that the most observant fans are capable of spotting this possible error, if not confusion.

Todd Howard was keen to dot the i's, confirming that the bomb that destroyed the Shadow Sands was indeed dropped after the events of the game Fallout: New Vegas. What is shown in the series therefore does not call anything into question and all the main works of Fallout are canon, whether they are video games or television.
