The beginning and the end (End)

Join the church

When you arrive in a transformed New Eden, advance on the path to reach the docks after the cemetery going north. Here lies an insidious ivy. To destroy it, first destroy the barricades a little further away then open the ivy with Antea's power. The three wisps to find are right behind you near the dock, behind the destroyed barricade, and below the dock to the west.

Once destroyed, many enemies will arrive. Once everyone is down, you can go up to the village. The game invites you to stop at Esther Davenport's house to the east (the house with the broken wall and hanging lantern). You will find Esther in the back shed. Following the dialogue, exit and head towards the school to the northwest, confronting various specters on your way.

Once in the school, rest to chat with Antea then head back on the road. Head southwest until you reach the end of the path on a new insidious ivy protected by specters. Before attacking him, go pull the cart to the left side of the house behind you. Then, open the ivy and shoot the will-o'-the-wisp in front of the house, then on the left side behind the cart, then on the right side in the small courtyard.

Continue your climb towards the church and once in front of it, go around it to the left to find a new insidious ivy. To reach it, first destroy the boards nearby then open the ivy. Shoot the wisp that was behind the boards then look at the well to find another one. Now that the facade of the church is free, return to the front of it and climb using the accessible wall.

Go to the left, enter the church and follow the floor to the right to finally go down and trigger a cutscene once you approach Antea's body. The time has come for the final battle against the Nightmare.

Fight against the Nightmare

Like all the bosses of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, this boss has three life bars. But you can imagine that the game has some surprises in store for you, the combat taking place in two large distinct phases.

Phase 1

To best eliminate the Nightmare, you will have to avoid the spears it sends at you, while avoiding being charged and avoiding the equally formidable Nightmare doubles (use Antea's Explosion here). So stay constantly mobile. The most effective here are the Antea's ranged attacks (Explosion or Trap for example) and the Red's gunshots. Every time you empty a life bar, run towards the Nightmare to banish it.

After three successive bans, a long cutscene is triggered, causing the return of the Nightmare transformed into Punishment, even more angry for a second round of three new life bars.

Phase 2

The basic mechanics are repeated for this second phase. But added to this, we can notably find bloody or slime effusions that can slow you down (use Antea in this case) or inflict heavy damage on you if the explosions take place within your perimeter. Smite will also send moving spikes through the ground for you to dodge at the right time to avoid being hit. Use your Banishment gauge in combat as soon as possible to deal additional damage.

With each life bar emptied, Red will this time use objects belonging to the killed bosses and linked to Deborah such as the Puppeteer's Shackles or even Governor Haskell's Feather. Once the three gauges are emptied and the Punishment banished one last time, the fight ends.

A Trophy will then be unlocked and you will be able to follow the ending cutscene that the game has chosen for you. Indeed, depending on your oaths to Antea (and their absolute respect) as well as your choices during the different Haunting Cases, one of the 3 main endings will be unlocked. If you want to discover the other endings, you will have to replay the Unresolved Haunting Cases before the point of no return and drastically change your choices, or completely restart a game to start everything from the beginning with opposite choices.
