Release: When exactly does it start?

As the developer Madfinger Games reports, early access will start shortly on April 30, 2024 at 3 p.m on Steam.

Gameplay: What exactly is this game?

If you don't know exactly what Gray Zone Warfare is about despite the hype of the last few weeks on YouTube and Twitch: It's a tactical first-person shooter in which you play as part of one of three competing military companies on a Southeast Asian island named Lamang fights.

There are per server 48 players and up to 1,000 AI fighters be active on the battlefield. Before you go into battle, however, you have to buy weapons and equipment that you risk losing if you die. In return, you can bag all sorts of loot on your missions and thus generate new income – provided you survive your mission.

The whole thing is an extraction shooter in the style of Escape from Tarkov, which relies on a large map with different zones instead of clear maps. Just like in the big model, you also have to complete quests. A total of 150 of these should already be available at the start.

Price: How much does Gray Zone Warfare cost?

Gray Zone Warfare will be released in four different editions:

• Standard edition: 35 euros
• Tactical Edition: 58 euros
• Elite edition: 80 euro
• Supporter Edition: 100 euros

Is Gray Zone Warfare Pay2Win?

Buyers of the expensive editions get tangible benefits in the form of additional money, more weapons, ammunition, grenades and other equipment. Escape from Tarkov has already shown that these advantages do not have to play a major role in the long term, as equipment can be earned and lost comparatively quickly.

What's much more serious, however, is that you get a larger storage box (250 fields in the standard edition, 600 in the supporter edition), so that's annoying Inventory Tetris is significantly simplified. A larger box can not only store more equipment for future missions, but also quest items that may be needed later in the game.

All players who invest 80 or even 100 euros also get a larger one Secure lockbox. These are safe inventory spaces whose contents will not be lost if you die. For 35 euros you get four places (2 × 2), for 100 euros you get nine (3 × 3).
