CAPCOM announces the arrival of the inevitable Akuma, the new Street Fighter 6 fighter on May 22.
The enraged demon will resume its business of destroying other fighters from May 22, 2024 in Street Fighter 6. New costumes for all four Year 1 characters, as well as major combat balance updates, will be available on the same date.
After Rashid, AKI and Ed, it's Akuma's turn to join the big family of the benchmark fighting game. In addition to Akuma, three important new updates are available:
- Costumes 3 for all characters from year 1: Rashid, AKI, Ed and Akuma. Year 1 Ultimate Pass holders will automatically receive colors 1-10 on May 22.
- Combat balancing. More details on this in the coming weeks.
- New stage of Street Fighter 6, Enma's Hollow, where Akuma resides to continue his infernal training. Year 1 Ultimate Pass holders will automatically receive this course on May 22.
Akuma will jump straight into the action in Street Fighter 6's three game modes: the World Tour where players can learn more about his history, the Battle Hub where they can apply his moves and special moves to their avatar and the Fighting Ground. It will be possible to unlock his Costume 2, inspired by his first look in Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
A selection of some of his exhilarating and demonic moves:
- Gou Hadoken : Akuma's famous fireball is back and can be charged to send a “red fireball” which gives him more options on hits or blocks.
- Ashura Senku : Like his predecessors, Akuma uses Ashura Senku to hover over the battlefield while hiding in the shadows.
- Adamant Flame : One of Akuma's new moves, which performs a forward push while engulfing itself in the flames. This move is useful in combos and for exploiting opponents' vulnerabilities thanks to its long range.
- Messatsu Gohado : Great art of level 1 of Akuma which consists of shooting a ball of very concentrated Satsui no Hado.
- Empyrean's End : Akuma Level 2 Super Art that transforms Satsui no Hado into a powerful flame that ignites inside the opponent.
- Sip of Calamity : Akuma's first level 3 Super Art, which knocks his opponents to the ground head first, follows with a single devastating blow.
- Shun Goku Satsu or “Raging Demon” : This second level 3 super art can only be performed when Akuma's life bar is low enough for a Critical Art and can be used to close a combo. This time, it lets players see what happens during that dreaded nightmare second.
Akuma will be available from May 22, 2024 for all owners of Street Fighter 6 Deluxe Edition, Ultimate Edition or the Year 1 Character Pass. More details in the coming weeks.
The first three characters of the season pass were very nice, but here we get into the hard part with an Akuma who seems very angry. And Sagat, when is it due?
