Baldur's Gate 3 was recently presented at the BAFTA Game Awards 2024 and what can I say… of course Larian's epochal role-playing game really won again. Among other things, it was voted game of the year once again.

But with all the trophies and praise, the team doesn't want to lose sight of what's important and will do whatever it takes to rest on it now. Instead, Larian has in a blog post The next big patch has been announced and a few details have already been revealed.

Baldur's Gate 3 played six times: How different is it really?

This is in patch 7

Bad endings

The next update will be the seventh major patch for Baldur's Gate 3 and large is often an understatement here. Larian's patches are always several dozen gigabytes in size and often bring completely new sequences into the game. It seems that Patch 7 will also include a whole lot of new cutscenes. This time it's all about bad endings.

We don't yet know what will change in detail. But after Patch 7 you should receive significantly more comprehensive conclusions from your unscrupulous passages. Even more fixes

In addition to this big change, the current patch will of course also try to eliminate some annoying bugs. The complete patch notes are not available yet, just a few tips:

  • Jaheira should no longer refuse to join fights or jump.
  • Fixed Wyll's less than romantic greetings.
  • The missing narrator lines in the confrontation between Gortash and the Dark Desire are back.

Modding tools

There are already tons of mods for Baldur's Gate 3, but Patch 7 makes creating them even easier. The update introduces some official modding toolswhich can primarily be used to adjust the appearance and values of the world.

What's next?

Judging by the blog entry, Patch 7 will probably be the last really big update for Baldur's Gate 3. After that, the team wants to focus mainly on fixing various bugs and no longer make such major changes.

However, the team is currently still working on it to install a photo mode and crossplay to enable. There is currently no date for either.

Studio boss Swen Vincke recently announced that Larian would not be releasing any expansions for Baldur's Gate 3. There should also be no Baldur's Gate 4 coming up next. Instead, they want to concentrate on new IPs – at the moment they don't two new projects at once be in progress.
