Stellar Blade: After censorship allegations – developer thanks you and promises updates

Shift Up took to the “Stellar Blade” Twitter/X account and promised “updates.” You could be referring to the recent censorship allegations.

The one launched last week “Stellar Blade” is another title that seems to be quite successful Lack of large first-party franchises can bridge. While testers were mostly impressed based on the Metascore of 82, the title has an almost entirely enthusiastic community. The User score is 9.3.

Also came loud criticism of “Stellar Blade”., after changes were made to two costumes with the day one patch. Despite the fact that other costumes showed significantly more skin and were left untouched, players complained about censorship. A resulting petition collected more than 68,000 signatures within a week.

Shift Up thanks you for the feedback and promises updates

Shift Up, the developer of “Stellar Blade,” announced in an initial statement that the new costume versions would be the final layouts intended for launch. At the same time, the developer admitted that this explanation may not be enough to appease players.

A more detailed explanation could be close to release if Shift Up's words on the game's Twitter/X account are interpreted correctly.

“Thank you to all of our Stellar Blade fans for your passion and feedback. Stay tuned for updates,” reads the short message.

It is not clear whether Shift Up is referring to the censorship allegations or just wanting to speak out in general. But since “passion” and “feedback” are explicitly addressed, they should at least be one of the upcoming topics.

There are several possibilities here: Either the developers justify the costume changes again and leave it at that. Or they may bring back the old versions of the costumes and perhaps offer them as alternative choices.

Since other costumes from “Stellar Blade” allow significantly more insight, the accusation of censorship is on shaky ground anyway. However, it is to be feared that there will also be a wave of outrage afterwards. “If you’re smart, you won’t get involved in this nonsense,” they say.

Another change concerns an in-game logo that, when combined, creates a racially motivated slogan:

Ultimately, what remains in memory are the pressure attempts by some people who threatened to let their PS Plus membership expire if Sony and Shift Up didn't give in to their will. But as the ratings and feedback from many players make clear, this is by no means a central goal of the entire player community. Sometimes it is said: “Without all the fuss, I wouldn’t have noticed it at all.”

“Stellar Blade” was launched on April 26, 2024 exclusively for the PS5. Through our test of the game you can dig behind this link.
