Sony Announces PS5 Cancellation: Players Should Expect a Prolonged Drought

As early as 2023, there were hardly any major first-party games apart from Spider-Man 2 from Sony on the PS5. In 2024, the dry spell seems to be getting even worse – because Sony currently has no new additions planned for the next 13 months.

Even if it is of course initially a disappointment that Sony is no longer planning any major releases for the next financial year, gamers should not forget that this can also have something positive.

Sony still seems to care about the quality of its games. Otherwise, they would certainly have decided to bring forward the release of one of the games currently in development so as not to end up empty-handed. Or they would have commissioned one of the studios to quickly put together a half-baked DLC for Spider-Man 2 or a spin-off of their well-known brands.

In other words: PS5 players would have to bite the bullet this year could pay for itself in the next few years. But let's wait and see. With a bit of luck, Microsoft will port some of its Xbox exclusive games to the Sony console in the coming months.
