Quentin Tarantino just wants to direct a new film. His tenth screen work will be his last – after which the cult director wants to say goodbye to his guild. And actually his grand finale was considered set in stone: The Movie Critic.

Now Quentin Tarantino is doing what Quentin Tarantino is known for: He changes his mind. How Deadline reports, The Movie Critic will not be his tenth and final film after all. The director simply changed his mind about it.

Quentin Tarantino isn't making The Movie Critic

What exactly happened? Tarantino has been working on The Movie Critic for a while now. The film was supposed to be about a film critic who works for a porn magazine in the 70s. Tarantino wanted to tell the story of a real critic who never achieved fame, but also incorporate personal experiences.

John Travolta and Bruce Willis were among those under discussion for The Movie Critic. Brad Pitt should also return in his role as stuntman Cliff Booth from Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. But nothing will come of it.

According to Deadline's report, Tarantino was undergoing a major rewrite of his script, which also resulted in a delay in filming. The director is said to have simply realized that The Movie Critic would not be his last film.

Of course, it wouldn't be completely unreasonable if Quentin Tarantino changed his mind about this again. His eighth film, The Hateful 8, was considered scrapped and written off for a long time, until Tarantino finally staged it.

As of now, Tarantino is starting from scratch for his tenth and final film. What kind of final project he is now devoting himself to is not known and only time will tell. In case you're wondering what new films Tarantino has made so far (which doesn't include Sin City or Four Rooms), here's a quick overview:
