Possibility for GTA 5 on Switch: Hope for Switch players still alive

GTA 5 is already available for various platforms such as PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Nevertheless, fans have been wanting more alternatives for years, including the Nintendo Switch. The release of a massive leak of the GTA source code has reinforced these hopes.

At the end of 2023, hackers leaked the GTA 5 source code and made it available for download on various platforms, accompanied by a screenshot of a folder. A group of modders now aims to take advantage of this opportunity to GTA 5 on the Nintendo Switch, Android and Linux to port and thus fulfill the long-cherished wish of many fans – a task that Nintendo itself apparently did not manage for good reasons.

GTA 5 requires a significant amount of power and many players are convinced of this: both smartphones and the handheld console would be overwhelmed with the game. They express this in numerous GIFs and memes under the announcement. However, there are other players who believe it could potentially work.

According to Twitter user @rustyforklift, most phones manufactured after 2017 should be able to run the game. The current top models could even get close to 30 FPS when running at maximum settings (Source: X/Twitter).

Twitter user @InbasagarNadar shares this optimistic view. In his opinion, GTA 5 could run properly on new devices thanks to Windows emulators.
