Polish studio has bad news for “Project Dagger”

The Polish developers at People Can Fly are currently working on several projects. Now the studio has announced the cancellation of “Project Dagger”.

The developers of People Can Fly still had quite ambitious goals in 2021. They wanted from 2024 a new game every year publish. A new company strategy in which several titles are developed at the same time should help.

However, the current problems in the gaming industry do not stop at the developers of People Can Fly. Recently were Layoffs and downsizing of the team announced that is working on “Project Gemini”. Now the Poles announced that they wanted to stop playing a game completely.

People Can Fly's new IP will no longer be pursued

It's not the first bad news the studio has had to announce about “Project Dagger.” Collaboration with Take-Two Interactive was announced for the game announced by the Polish studio in 2022, which was intended to establish a new action-adventure IP. However, Take-Two resigned almost four months after the announcement back from the publishing contract.

The developers of People Can Fly stated at the time that they wanted to further develop and market “Project Dagger” on their own. However, the title has now been abandoned entirely.

The reasons for this have now been officially announced by the studio: “The suspension of work on the project is the result of a re-analysis of the development plans for projects implemented by the capital group of PCF Group SA and the introduction of changes to these plans in the “Related to the unsatisfactory results of the assessment of the scope and commercial potential of the project.”

Four more projects in progress

The Polish studio announced in 2022 a total of five new projects. In addition to the now discontinued “Project Dagger,” People Can Fly also confirmed “Project Gemini,” which is being created in collaboration with Square Enix. The title was actually supposed to be released in 2024. It is not yet known whether this can be maintained despite the team being downsized.

The developers are also working on “Bifrost”, for which People Can Fly itself wants to act as publisher. The two projects “Victoria” and “Red” are also in the works, but were still in a very early stage of development at the time of the announcement.
