Other Soulslikes are drowning against Another Crab's Treasure!

Who lives in the moon snail shell deep in the sea? Krill, the crab! Although at first glance the setting certainly has parallels Bikini bottom Another Crab's Treasure has nothing to do with the Krusty Krab – well, except for the fact that you actually play a crab.

The cute indie game not only wants to draw your attention to environmental pollution in the ocean, but also wants to play with the big players: It's actually a Soulslike! So we're dealing with a soft shell and a hard core, but above all with a lot of heart, humor and a few problems.

Income tax return – attachment Soulslike

There may be no tax office in the sea, but loan sharks are up to mischief there. Our little hero Krill likes to make himself comfortable in his stylish shell and lie down on his lazy skin. But that's over now because he can't pay some ominous taxes and his house is quickly seized.

But the crab won't let it sit if it can't stay seated itself. However, everything doesn't go as planned and she quickly finds herself in the middle of an involuntary treasure hunt with dangerous opponents in order to get her home back.

The story is pretty simple and serves more as a framework to skillfully drive you into the different areas. For Soulslike However, given the circumstances, it is told very directly. That's not the only thing that's atypical for the genre – but more on that later.

Finding the mussel is not that easy if you are defenseless against the tides. So you have to improvise and make use of trash lying around – from soda cans to ink cartridges to special tanks like the Impostor Among Us everything is there.

The garbage not only serves as a pretty decoration, but above all as armor in battles. The game relies much more on parrying than on dodging, which requires you to leave your safe hiding place in the tank at the right moment. The time windows for this are merciful and successful parades are rewarded.

Crabs Die Twice

In terms of FromSoftware tradition, the mechanics are most reminiscent of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The enemies all have a posture bar, which you slowly fill up with parries and special attacks. As soon as it is full, the enemies will collapse and later you can even deal a lot of damage with a fancy finisher move.

Over time you not only unlock additional and sometimes special abilities that are very useful. The choice of tank also plays a significant role. They have different weights, durability and the so-called umami attacks also differ from each other.

This separate bar then allows you to use tank-specific attacks such as bubbles, explosions or electrical charges. So just grab a new tank every now and then, which are scattered throughout the game world, and try them out.

Even if the term tank sounds extremely robust, its lifespan is very limited. Especially if you block more than parry, your protection will break relatively quickly and you will have to look for a replacement. There are always several extra copies lying around in the arenas for the boss fights so that you don't end up as fish food.
