Landing operations by helicopter, stealth games in the jungle, battles with enemy players and bots. The upcoming tactical shooter Gray Zone Warfare wants to offer you all of this – rounded off in a beguilingly beautiful Southeast Asian island setting.
With his Focus on realism and strategic approach It's easy to see that Gray Zone has a similar tone to its intellectual role models Tarkov and Arma. You can get your own idea of what to expect in the gameplay video below.
But Gray Zone doesn't just hit a nerve with Tarkov veterans. The game is currently one of the most requested titles on Steam. And shooter fans don't have to wait much longer, as the work by the Czech studio Madfinger Games is scheduled to be officially released this year.

Content creators play first
Today Gray Zone Warfare entered its first round of Early Access. But access to it is limited. Because instead of inviting all willing shooter friends to a round on the island paradise, developer Madfinger is using this week for an advertising campaign.
As the studio announced, the test phase is this week an event especially for VIPs, influencers and other content creators and their friends. These are intended to test the game under real conditions and promote it through streams on Twitch, YouTube and Co.
However, it should several more opportunities in the future for all other players to put Gray Zone Warfare through its paces.
What exactly does Gray Zone offer?
Gray Zone Warfare is a mix of extraction and classic tactical shooter, i.e. a PvEvP game. We have to secure loot and keep both bots and other players at bay.
If you believe the statements from Madfinger Games, Gray Zone wants nothing less than to revolutionize the first-person shooter genre and should be able to compete with Escape from Tarkov in particular in terms of tactics and realistic weapon handling.

But while Tarkov and Arma are set in an urban, Eastern European setting, Gray Zone takes you to Lamang Island. A fictional island somewhere in Southeast Asia, roughly based on Laos and Vietnam.
The variety of landscape is correspondingly great: Dense jungle, open fields, mountains, but also densely populated urban areas, all of which you can explore freely. In total, the map should cover an area of 42 square kilometers.
