2024, the year of Tetris

In a few weeks, Tetris is about to reach the milestone of forty years of existence. Released for the first time in 1984, the famous video game designed by Aleksei Pajitnov has enjoyed new success this year since many players decided to set new world records. Recently, several of these records were broken after the repeated performances of player Alex T who notably crossed the 16 million points mark on the NES version of the game. An absolutely exceptional feat which gave Tetris a real revival in popularity in 2024. But beyond the competitive scene, it is rather for its anniversary that Tetris resurfaces this week with an astonishing collaboration.

A taste of Tetris in the bubbles

To celebrate forty years of the game, the Tetris Company has decided to collaborate with 7-Eleven's Slurpees brand. Slurpees or slushies correspond to a kind of drink on the border between soda and ice cream, in the same way as granitas, but more liquid. So, for this anniversary event, 7-Eleven and Tetris have decided to give certain customers cups on which it is possible to play the game.
