Similar to a civilization, in Memoriapolis you lead an empire through various eras. Developer 5PM Studios adds a bit of Cities: Skylines, so you only have to worry about a single city.

You accompany this city over a period of 2,500 years and expand it from a small settlement into, as 5PM calls it, the “capital of all capitals.”

This is how Memoriapolis should play

Memoriapolis on Steam

Unlike a Civ game, this city building simulation takes place in real time. You lead your citizens through the millennia and not only have to worry about growth, but also about the needs of the people. If they are dissatisfied with you, you will be removed.

Production and urban development

To get resources, you build production buildings. For the well-being of your citizens, there are buildings from the areas of supply, culture and religion.

However, you lay in Memoriapolis no roads themselves. Every building attracts certain types of people who then move on settle nearby and create districts independently. For example, if you build a lot of military buildings, soldiers will settle there then form a faction with their own needs and desires.

However, you can influence the districts by placing buildings that belong to a specific faction.

Age and progress

The game includes antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Age of Enlightenment. To advance into the next era, you must build wonders such as Notre-Dame or Windsor Castle. These special buildings obviously cost a lot of resources and time, but they also offer unique bonuses for your city.

Politics and important events

You not only make decisions about the construction of the city, but also set the political path. However, you have to have the previously mentioned factions on your side. If you lose their consent, the game is soon lost.

You also have to deal with events like riots or the outbreak of the plague deal with it and choose the right approach.

Memoriapolis is planning to start an early access phase soon, but there is no specific start date yet. You can register for a test run on Steam, but there is no information about the start or content here either.
