Naval Group partners with start-up DessIA to implement AI software

The French company DessIA is increasing its partnerships with leading manufacturers. After announcing last October the signing of a contract with Plastic Omnium to optimize the design of its products, it is the turn of Naval Group to make a similar merger.

A major player in the naval defense sector, the French manufacturer plans to exploit the full potential of the platform developed by DessIA, including its algorithm libraries and its generative process automation solution in order to facilitate the creation of “AI -Apps” for ship fitting professions. These AI-Apps are designed to automate the processes of generating “designs” or verifying design rules for a set of 3D CAD parts.

Addressing the complex challenges of the naval sector with AI

For the manufacturer, this partnership is synonymous with several benefits, including the optimization of design processes as well as the reduction of costs and development times. “This partnership with Naval Group is further proof of the trust and commitment of major industry players in our AI solutions for engineering,” declared Pierre-Emmanuel Dumouchel, director and co-founder of DessIA.

This strategic partnership between Naval Group and DessIA is a critical step towards the future of naval design, where AI and automation play key roles in controlling costs and accelerating development. For the start-up, this agreement is also a boost in its development.

A diversified customer portfolio

Launched in 2017 by a former member of the group PSAPierre-Emmanuel Dumouchel (current manager), and Steven Masfaraud (current technical director), the young company has made its way with large groups, particularly French ones, from the automotive, aerospace, railway and naval sectors. Renault uses it for example for cooling architectures on electric vehicles in order to study the installation of a hydraulic pump or a radiator on efficiency and autonomy.

Plastic Omnium, for its part, seeks to optimize and automate the design processes of certain products such as hydrogen tanks, battery systems and shock absorption systems. Alstom, Airbus, Boeing, Saffron?Thales or Valeo are also part of DessIA's customer references, proof of its strong roots within French industry.
