Multi Maze 3D (Nintendo Switch) – The test

Crazy Labs Limited is a bit of a tester's pet peeve. Every time we see a port of one of their mobile games, our hair turns white and our wrinkles stand up at the lack of content and the often ridiculous experience offered. Multi Maze 3D is basically a free-to-play released in July 2021. It arrives on theeShop from our consoles on March 21, 2024 at the price of five euros. Will he succeed in removing all our preconceptions?

Before starting the test, we would like to point out that the game does not offer any French translation. A basic level of English is necessary to play Multi Maze 3D.

A seductive concept

Multi Maze 3D is a game with an enticing concept. We have a sort of circular maze with marbles in the center. The goal is to successfully escape the maze by going through the multipliers lying around in order to achieve the minimum required score.

When a ball passes through a multiplier, its number will increase by the displayed value. If you have ten marbles passing through the “x2”, then you will have twenty marbles.

Be careful though, because in the mazes there are sometimes dividers and subtractors which will reduce our number of balls.

Sometimes, there will be “bosses” in which the objective is generally the same except that you will have to make the balls fall into the void and the multipliers will sometimes be moving.

The handling is very accessible. The joystick allows us to turn the maze and there is one button to accelerate and the other to decelerate. If you play in handheld mode, you can play with touch. And that's all.

If the concept is attractive and the first levels are nice, the game is sorely lacking in content, like all the experiences signed by Crazy Labs.

Worse still, we even feel in the game the whole commercial strategy of the developer who seeks to attract the mobile player for as long as possible to put as many ads as possible.

Unfortunately, the levels all look the same and there's very little variety or objective. Some levels are even repeated throughout the adventure and the gameplay no longer varies from the tenth puzzle.

There are a few bonuses, “skins” to unlock for our marbles, but our interest gradually fades and boredom replaces curiosity.

The level design is very poor and the gameplay does not evolve. We are therefore condemned to repeating the same levels forever to try to beat a chimerical best score, based on our best performance.

But gameplay close to nothing

However, as the levels are poorly designed and random, it is impossible to knowingly beat this high score. Only luck can give us this opportunity, and even then, when it presents itself, we no longer have the motivation or desire to beat a hypothetical best score.

What more can be said ? The game only offers one music which repeats in a loop hasd vitam aeternam so you will need very strong nerves to support it during the levels that pass by.

Multi Maze 3D is not translated into French, but there are almost no texts so a basic level is enough for you.

The graphics are very simplistic, colorful, and based on the same mazes and circles repeated over and over to the point of overdose.

The game is available for five euros, but we know the drill: it's a deceptive price to then offer a game on sale and then make players believe that it is exceptionally cheaper than usual.

In reality, the game has the quality of a flash game and less content than the latter. Impossible in these conditions to recommend you Multi Maze 3Dregardless of the price.
