What are Max Poles used for in Zelda TOTK?

As in its predecessor, it is very important to collect all the objects you come across in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Indeed, these could be used for several things such as when using Amalgam, when improving your armor, making dishes or simply reselling. Among the most difficult items to find in the game are the Max poles. This particular variety of fish doesn't swim in every pond in Hyrule, but it will allow you to do two very useful things.

First of all, Max Perches are an excellent ingredient to use when making your dishes. Indeed, while the fish only regenerates two meager hearts when consumed on site, it reveals its full potential once cooked with other ingredients. So, each dish with a Max Perch as a main ingredient should give you a result that will restore all of your hearts in addition to granting you 2 additional yellow hearts. If you tend to take a lot of damage, this is a very useful dish to have on you.

The other main use of the Max Pole is a little more situational since you will need it to improve a particular piece of armor. Indeed, you will need Max Poles to upgrade your Zora outfit to level 3. If you use the latter often (in particular to swim faster or to go up waterfalls), you will therefore have every interest in improving it so that it can take more damage. Note that you will need a total of 9 Poles max to be able to make this improvement, in addition to 15 Blue Lizalfos Horns and 9 Lizalfos Tails.

Whether it's to make dishes that regenerate all hearts or to improve Zora's outfit, you will therefore benefit from knowing the location of a few spots in Perches max. Unfortunately, the latter are not really legion. To find them, you will especially have to wander around the sky islands and pay attention to the different ponds there. As you can see above, there are still several places where you can find Max Perches more easily than elsewhere. For example, you will find some at the level ofIsle of Gushing Waters (just below the Water Temple), the island north of the Celestial Archipelago of West Hebra (near the Ijo O Sanctuary) or on theDarkhunter Island (between the Celestial Archipelago of Tabanta North and that of Tabanta). Once you have collected these Max Poles, know that'they will reappear after each Blood Moon. So don't hesitate to come back as often as necessary.
