Unlock fishing and all fishing locations
You unlock fishing from the NPC Clyde, he is at the oasis in the Great Desert. After you have completed his side mission, his fishing shop will also be unlocked. There are a total of 25 different fish that you can catch at 6 fishing locations. However, for the “Lone Angler” trophy you only have to catch 20 different fish. If you catch all 25 types of fish, you will receive the “Ocean Maid” outfit. The fish are divided into 5 categories:

You can see the fish you have caught so far in the menu. Open it with the Options key, navigate to the Database tab and now select the Fish category. With the exception of the colossal fish, you can catch all other species with any other bait or even without bait. The specific bait only increases the chance of landing a fish in that category. However, fishing takes much longer without bait. There is also the strange bait, which increases your chance of getting items and consumables. However, sometimes you just get garbage. None of the items caught here count towards the trophy.
It is advisable that you change the controls to make fishing easier. This can help immensely, especially with larger fish. To do this, open Menu -> Settings -> Accessibility -> Replace Fishing Controls -> On. With this, all you have to do when defeating the fish is hold the square and pull the line in the opposite direction so that the fish tires. In addition, you only have to hold R2 instead of finding the exact anchor point. When you are at a fishing location, you need to equip the fishing rod to start fishing.
