Workshops, coaching, network: The Bavarian location initiative Games Bavaria is launching the Level Up accelerator program.

Anyone who ventures into the shark tank of the games industry should prepare as well as possible – especially those who can draw on the experience and network of professionals. This is exactly what accelerator programs, like those that have existed in Hamburg for several years, serve.

The Free State of Bavaria is now also launching a corresponding program: The state location initiative Games Bavaria (spelling: Games/Bavaria) – a subsidiary of Medien Bayern – announces the Level Up accelerator concept. The starting signal is in July. Applications are possible now and until May 31 at the latest (Registration and further information).

During the six-month program, young developers and startups receive a whole range of support with a view to game design, marketing and business management – from workshops and coaching to free co-working places in Munich to networking in the industry.

Bavaria's Digital Minister Fabian Mehring (Free Voters) takes over the patronage: “We have made 2024 the year of the games in Bavaria. After the extraordinarily successful GG Bavaria games fair and the German Computer Games Award in Munich, we are launching the next major offering for the Bavarian games industry in the first half of the year: the Games Bavaria Accelerator. Bavaria's games studios are the pixel pioneers of digital transformation. Strengthening them economically strengthens the whole of Bavaria on its way to becoming a modern digital state.”

Thorsten Schmiege – President of the Bavarian State Center for New Media (BLM) – also has great expectations for the new offer: “The software and games sector not only generates the highest sales in the media industry, but also has the most employees, with over 113,000 people. These are two good reasons to really step on the gas again here in Bavaria as a media location with the new accelerator program. Many thanks to the Digital Minister for his support!”

Lina Timm, Managing Director of Medien Bayern and Head of Games Bavaria: “Bavaria has a strong scene of up-and-coming game studios. With 'Level Up' we have addressed the industry's great desire for technical and entrepreneurial support in the phase from concept to launch. As a comprehensive coaching program, it perfectly complements the financial support offered by FFF Bayern. With the support of the Bavarian Digital Ministry, we can further advance the professionalization of the games industry.”
