A shock duo

Leonardo Dicaprio and director Martin Scorsese have become one of the most iconic duos in Hollywood, but above all the most prolific. It was on no less than six films that the duo collaborated; Since Gangs of New York in 2000, until the very recent Killers of the Flower Moon. Among these feature films, we find DiCaprio's most legendary successes, which, so to speak, forged his career, such as The wolf of Wall Street Or Shutter Island. Thus, collectively, it is estimated that this power duo was able to rake in more than $1.3 billion on their first five projects, making this synergy one of the most fruitful in the industry.

However, if today Scorsese and DiCaprio are meant to be together, their meeting was purely the result of chance, as the actor often reminds us. “I'm almost about to turn 40 and I look back on some of the things I've been able to do, and in the middle is this incredible accidental collaboration that I was able to have. With Marty. », Leonardo DiCaprio explained in 2016 to IndieWire. Very recently, it is the making of a biopic that the two men have started, and obviously we are waiting for them around the corner.

Sinatra's return to the cinema

Despite his age, Martin Scorsese still intends to work on several films. If no idea is yet very concrete, he has already mentioned wanting to make a film about Jesus. A subject which may seem difficult, but which the director had succeeded in with Silence, on the persecution of Christians in Japan. However, it is on another project that we are now waiting for him: a Frank Sinatra biopic. A figure of the 20th century, singer, actor or even radio presenter, exposing this multifaceted man to the world of cinema would indeed be an ideal plan for Scorsese. According to Variety, it has been almost ten years since the filmmaker tried to implement this project, which he abandoned in 2017 due to juggling several jobs. However, this time, he tries his luck again. As you might have guessed, Scorsese already has his casting in mind: Leonardo DiCaprio would play Frank Sinatra, while Jennifer Lawrence would play the role of his wife Ava Gardner.

If Scorsese seems ready to start his film, it should be remembered that for the moment, this project is far from being confirmed. No one is yet attached to this biopic to finance it, and the director does not yet even have the rights to adapt the figure of Sinatra. As Sony Pictures, expected as producer, specifies, Tina Sinatra (Frank Sinatra's daughter) controls her father's inheritance rights. Without his signature, the project will not be able to start. For the moment, the latter has not made any statement, but what is certain is that she will have to be convinced by Scorsese's pitch to cede these rights. Remember that we also have no information on the angle chosen by the filmmaker for this adaptation. We also cannot be certain that this new collaboration with DiCaprio will see the light of day. As we explained to you previously, it has already been abandoned. Tina's refusal could have been the cause.
