In fact, the company launched a crowdfunding campaign on Republic to develop an Invincible AAA game with industry veterans from EA, Activision Blizzard and Amazon Games.

Skybound Games has created a team of more than 30 industry professionals and has already managed to raise $18 million from ordinary investors and fans via Republic and Seedrs. Today, the company hopes to be able to raise more funds for the development of its new game. The campaign will end on April 30.

This new Invincible title will thus be developed internally, under the control of a team of franchise partners and Robert Kirkman himself.

Invincible is being developed by a team of seasoned developers with decades of careers and numerous AAA games under their belt. Featuring cutting-edge competitive gameplay, top-notch production values, and the most advanced technical and online foundations, Invincible will release as part of a premium model with multiple DLC expansions and special editions designed to satisfy all levels of fandom. In both competitive and local modes, the game is designed to bring new stories to the Invincible multiverse, enabling future releases, expansions, new character arcs, and adventures for years to come.

As of this writing, the campaign has already raised $451,260 through 167 investments. It's quite intriguing that Skybound Games is doing this for a AAA, when it's usually independent game developers who resort to crowdfunding.
