Indie World: games exclusive to the Japanese presentation

You are probably aware that the presentations of Nintendo sometimes differ greatly between the West and Japan. L'Indie World broadcast today is no exception to the rule and offered eight games missing from our version. Some of them are already known to you, others will probably never be released in our region. Here's a quick overview of these titles.

Shanghai Summer (シャンハイ サマー)

Shanghai Summer is an adventure game set at the turn of the century. Your protagonist will wander around for twelve days and encounter several “exceptions” that he will have to explain. In doing so, he will do a little introspection and see that “his aspirations and his regrets are beginning to converge”. The question is, will he be able to repair the world and repair himself?

Will it come out with us? Yes. In fact, it's even already out here, since it appeared with us on February 8 last. Appointment on theeShop to find out.

Bread and Fredブレッドとフレッド)

A co-op game is always great, but with penguins it's even better. You will have to Bread and Fred cooperate to climb a mountain, with each player directing one of two penguins tied together by a rope. It's up to you to carefully manage your movements in turn to make sure you're not the one who causes the downfall of your duo.

Will it come out with us? Yes the May 23, 2024.

The Exit 8 (8 pages)

A fairly short walking simulator in which you are locked in an endless underground passage (for Parisians, imagine Châtelet-les-Halles). You will need to pay attention to the “anomalies” to find the way out and, perhaps, stay alive.

Machi Koro With Everyoneみんなと街コロ)

A virtual adaptation of the city-builder Mini citieswhich prides itself on being able to be played by everyone thanks to “simple gameplay based on dice and cards” and “intuitive rules“. As in the board game, each player will be put in control of a city and the goal will be to be the first to have built all the monuments.

Will it come out with us? Very possible, given that the page Steam indicates French support. It remains to be seen whether the release will take place on July 5, 2024 like in Japan.

Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus (ボウと月夜の碧い花)

Okay, it's not Hollow Knight, but it still looks pretty good, right? Exclusivity of this Indie World Japanese, we had already seen Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus last summer at the Gamescom, and this Metroidvania still seems as beautiful as it is fun to play. Obviously and as with all games of the genre, everything will depend on the details, but we are following it with a close eye.

Will it come out with us? Yes the July 18, 2024like in Japan.

Sagres (サグレス)

A game in which you play “Fernando, a young ship captain in search of a new adventure“, who will have to create the boat of his dreams before traveling the seas in search of the legendary explorer Sir Antonio, while confronting the pirates and sea monsters who will stand in his way.

A Dance of Fire and Ice

A one-button rhythm game that's as strict as it is ugly. You will need to press button A (In any case, this is what the video broadcast in the Japanese Indie World shows) in rhythm with the music to move two marbles along a line. You can try online gaming to see if you like this kind of austerity.

Will it come out with us? Very possible given that it is translated into French on PC.

Arrange: A Role-Playing Adventure (アレンジャー・ロールパズリングの旅)

A mix of RPG and puzzle game that “takes place on a unique and interconnected “grid” to cleverly mix movement, exploration and combat“. When you move your character, everyone will move around you, and you will therefore have to anticipate your every move to avoid getting stuck. No fear, however: there will be several levels of difficulty.

Will it come out with us? Yes: the Japanese had to wait forIndie World to see it, but we discovered it on our side during the Partner Showcase broadcast in February. Appointment this summer.
