Deadpool & Wolverine, also called Deadpool 3, is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films of this year. While a second trailer was recently released, fans continue to detect easter eggs everywhere…

Deadpool 3, the new hope of the MCU

We probably won't learn anything from anyone by saying that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going through a difficult time: in truth, since Avengers Endgame, Disney is having some trouble giving its gigantic liner the right direction. Following the proliferation of films, series and just as many characters, artistic creation, but also technical means have deteriorated: as have box office scores, with real disasters unfortunately a little too regular.

This happy mess therefore pushed the firm to review its policy. The first phase of this is to give production and the public time to breathe with fewer films and fewer series, but more qualitative. So to speak, Deadpool & Wolverine will be the only Marvel feature film to be released this year 2024.

The MCU will also go through a phase of, let's say, acceptance of graphic violence and foul language. To do this, the Marvel Spotlight label has also been created, in which we already find the Echo series and to which projects like Daredevil Born Again and Blade will be attached. Besides, “Deadpool 3” will be perfectly violent and gory, with some strong words.

Finally, we can also count on the inclusion of characters and universes previously linked to different worlds (and which mainly belonged to 20th Century Fox, just bought by Disney). In the pile, we include the X-Men, but also the Fantastic Four which will breathe new life into the MCU. Once again, the next Deadpool film also ticks this box since it will bring back Hugh Jackman's legendary Wolverinealthough the latter had theoretically retracted his claws forever after Logan.

Multiverse rhymes with easter eggs

To justify the return of Wolverine, our dear Blade Wilson (still played by Ryan Reynolds) will therefore go and look for him in his universe, that of the X-Men that we have known since the early 2000s, thanks to an interdimensional portal. The recent trailer explains it well, illustrating in passing a confrontation between the two protagonists next to a huge “20th Century Fox” logo half-sanded. First wink.

On the other hand, what you may not have noticed, is that this bloody fight seems to be a direct reference… to Sam Raimi's very first Spider-Man. And more precisely to the (cult) confrontation between Peter Parker and Flash, in which the first avoids all of his opponent's blows. Except that here, it's Deadpool who dodges all of Wolverine's attacks in exactly the same way!

Multiverse requires, we expect this new film to be armed with dozens and dozens of easter eggs, a bit like Spider-Man No Way Home and Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness were. To see, from now on, if the fan service will prevail over the intrinsic quality of this new story: see you on July 24, 2024.
