Hi-Fi Rush: PS5 preload possible – Xbox title available for download

Hi-Fi Rush is the next game from Xbox to land on the PS5. Now that the pre-order phase has started, preloading is now possible.

Microsoft has been bringing Xbox-exclusive games to competing platforms. One of the first titles to lose its exclusivity is “Hi-Fi Rush” from Tango Gameworks. It will be released in March for the PS5.

Anyone interested in playing the surprise hit from 2023 on their PlayStation console can now start the preload.

Hi-Fi Rush is released on Tuesday and PS Plus discount

The developer points out the preload in a tweet. This means players can get “straight into the action” when “Hi-Fi Rush” hits the market in just a few days.

The Tango Gameworks project was presented during Xbox Developer Direct last year. The special style, the rhythmic hack-and-slash battles and the outstanding soundtrack received a lot of praise.

The plot revolves around Chai, who becomes embroiled in a mission to uncover a dark conspiracy by Vandelay Technologies. The Metascore of “Hi-Fi Rush” is at 87. The users on Metacritic gave it an average of 8.9 out of ten possible points. That means PlayStation players should also take a look.

More Xbox games planned for PS5

“Hi-Fi Rush” is one of four titles announced by Microsoft for non-Xbox platforms as part of its new multiplatform strategy.

Other games include Pentiment, Grounded and Sea of Thieves. The first mentioned title was released in February for the PS5 and initially showed better performance with 120 FPS on the PS5. The Xbox original also received a corresponding patch this week.

The other two games will follow in April:

“Grounded” is an adventure with co-op survival elements that will be released on April 16, 2024 for PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. The game offers cross-play functionality across Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Sea of Thieves will be released on April 30, 2024 for the PS5. Thanks to cross-play, players on Xbox, PlayStation and PC can go to sea together. It is already possible to add it to the PSN wish list.

What about Starfield and Co?

No other Xbox games for competing consoles have been announced yet. However, Xbox boss Phil Spencer stressed in February that he wanted to monitor the situation. Ultimately, the current initiative sounds like a kind of test balloon that could lead to further publications.

It remains to be seen whether flagship titles like “Starfield” will be included. The Redmond-based company’s primary goal is “to help game developers find the largest possible audience.”

However, new releases such as “Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2”, “Avowed” and “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” are launching exclusively on Xbox consoles and PC this year. And the hardware roadmap is also described as “robust and innovative”.
