Or even: “We beat Sony! We need to get Helldivers 2 back to overwhelmingly positive reviews!”

After being a community manager from Arrowhead over the weekend anti-Sony sentimenthad to Studio boss admitthat you are partly to blame for the current situation. Long before the launch, the developer knew that online games from Sony Interactive Entertainment required a PSN connection. Due to the initial problems with “Helldivers 2” but they decided to shift the obligation to the back. Later there was a lack of clear communication.

In fact, additional accounts are not uncommon in online games. In this context, Microsoft also requires PlayStation players to have an Xbox account, most recently on “Sea of Thieves”.

Better preparation necessary

Nevertheless, some PC gamers' criticism of the PSN requirement was not unfounded. Because in many countries there simply isn't one PlayStation Network. Here Sony Interactive Entertainment and Arrowhead have to face the accusation of not having their product planning under control.

That Sony – especially considering the new PSN overlay – it is doubtful that it will completely deviate from firmly linking PC games to the PlayStation Network. Because it is a legitimate means of centrally managing online players, progress and security mechanisms. Next time, however, the plans should be thought through to the end – especially for games that compete with “Call of Duty” and the like:

“Helldivers 2” came onto the market in February 2024 and could Sales figures rising for weeks to reach. Recently, the number of players has been falling continuously, at least on Steam. With around 50,000 simultaneous players on the Valve platform, the shooter is the 15th most played title in the morning – ahead of “Destiny 2” and “Call of Duty HQ” (including “Modern Warfare 2”, “Modern Warfare 3” and “Warzone”).
