GIMP 2.10.38 with important backport for Windows and other fixes

A new maintenance update to version 2.10.38 has been completed for the image editing program GIMP. An important function has been backported for Windows. This is the support of the Windows Ink API for input devices (especially graphics tablets).

Otherwise it is a maintenance update that has fixed some errors. It may well be that this is the last update for 2.10. The last developer (2.99.18) was made available in February before version 3.0 was released. If it stays that way. But let's get to the corrections:

  • Core:
  • Windows Ink support has been backported from GIMP 3 (this also relies on GTK+3 backports, so the GIMP 2.10.38 build only requires a specially patched GTK+2 on Windows).
  • On Windows it would now be possible to use devices that were connected via a fallback device after GIMP was started.
  • Translations updated
  • Build:
  • Many GTK+2 patches for Windows have been specifically backported from newer GTK versions and are integrated into our installer.
