What are these Cowboy electric bikes?
The main difference between Cowboy e-bike models is their frame type. While the Cowboy Classic opts for a standard closed frame, the Cowboy Cruiser ST model chooses an open frame. The Cruiser combines the closed frame of the first, with the upright position of the second. The Cruiser and Cruiser ST models therefore differ from the Classic, which remains the standard model of the brand.
The Cruiser has a curved, wide and raised handlebar, and offers a more upright position, for a more comfortable ride, perfect for less sporty users who are just looking for a practical two-wheeler. The saddle is firm, but provides enough comfort for everyday commuting. Its weight of 19.3 kg makes it a perfectly manageable model. The ST model has an open frame that is more practical to ride and a more padded saddle. With a weight of 19.2 kg, it is equally maneuverable and pleasant to drive. Note that the Cruiser ST is suitable for people with a height of 1.65 to 1.90 m, while the Cruiser is suitable for people between 1.70 and 1.95 m.
Are these Cowboy VAEs worth it before their price increase?
€300 in savings is always a good idea, and it allows you to invest in options like the Performance Pack (€299) which includes integrated wireless charging for smartphones and an improved battery. In terms of performance, the 250W motor and 45 Nm of torque allows you to easily reach a speed of 25 km/h. Two assistance modes are available: Eco and “Adaptive Power”. The latter adapts the power delivered by the engine according to road conditions and your pace. The assistance varies constantly and provides a smooth and pleasant driving sensation.
In terms of autonomy, count between 40 and 80 km for both models, depending on the road or weather conditions. Finally, the dedicated Cowboy application, available on iOS and Android, allows you to unlock the bike via Bluetooth, or to change the assistance mode. Note that the smartphone is almost essential to have access to the basic functionalities of VAEs.
