Fallout games are taking off thanks to the series

Since April 10, 2024 (in Germany since April 11th) Amazon Prime Video subscribers can enjoy the new series Fallout. For For fans of the computer game series, Fallout as a series is truly a feast, that much is certain. Also in the official ratings for the Fallout series it looks pretty good. In most cases, the series is praised by critics. But it's not just Amazon that benefits from the hype surrounding Fallout, but also Valve. The number of players on Steam is currently exploding the Fallout games, some of which are quite old. We have the numbers and information!

Over 20 years of Fallout history

The Fallout computer game series starts in 1997 with the first part. After Earth was devastated by a nuclear war in 2077, players enter a dark future scenario in Fallout. In the year 2161, Vault 13 in Fallout has a system failure and the story of the computer game begins. Fallout 2 came out a year later and takes place 80 years after the first part.

The new Amazon series Fallout is being celebrated by critics, but are the fans just as excited?

The spin-offs Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel came onto the market in 2001 and 2004. In 2008 it was the turn of Fallout 3. Fallout 4, in turn, was released in 2015 and is set in the year 2287, ten years after Fallout 3 (although the story begins on the day of the Great War). Fallout games are experiencing a boom on Steam

Almost all titles on Steam can currently benefit from the Fallout hype, at least that's what the numbers of active players at the same time show. For Fallout 4 the number was up Simultaneous players on April 1st were still at 20,613 and on April 14 at 83,491. The current 24-hour peak is currently at 76,675 concurrent players.

Other games don't look quite as gigantic, but they too have received a boost from the series hype. Fallout 76 still had 11,567 concurrent players on April 1, 2024 and on April 14th the value shot to 39,455 up. The 24-hour peak is still at 34,859 simultaneous players.

Fallout 76 has even received a completely new all-time high, i.e. more attention and interest than when the title was released. However, Fallout 4's all-time high could not be topped (472,962 simultaneous players). Anyone who currently wants to try out the Fallout games for themselves and jump on the hype will get it Many titles are currently at a discount.

Fallout: New Vegas, for example, doesn't cost 9.99 euros, but only 2.49 euros. Fallout 4, Fallout 3 and Fallout 76 are also 75 percent off even by 80 percent.
