Fallout 4: All faction achievements in one playthrough

In Fallout 4 You will meet four different factions, each pursuing their own goals in the Commonwealth. In addition, you and your protagonist also pursue your own goal during the main quest series. However, you shouldn't be fooled by this structure, because the factions are much more important to the outcome of the overall story than they initially seem. The quest structure of the role-playing game is difficult to understand at first.

In this article we want to give you an overview of the different quest lines of the factions, as well as the main quest. Of course, corresponding spoilers can hardly be avoided here. However, if you don't want to unknowingly become an enemy of your favorite faction, it's worth taking a look at this overview. The article is also aimed at achievement hunters. In order to get all the achievements that are related to the individual factions, three rounds would actually be necessary.

General game structure

You start Fallout 4 (buy now / €18.99 ) with the quest “Time Travel for Beginners”, the first of twelve missions in the main story. As the story progresses, you quickly come into contact with the Minutemen, your first faction. In addition, you will probably also encounter the Brotherhood of Steel and the Railroad as you travel through the wasteland. You will automatically come into contact with the Institute as the fourth faction during the main quest. First of all, you can join all factions without much danger and complete the first tasks for them.

However, with every faction you will eventually reach a point at which you permanently become an enemy of one or the other opposing faction. It therefore makes sense to continue following the main story first. This ends at some point and splits into the four faction strands. After the end of the single-track main plot, you have to decide which faction you want to lead the story to the actual end with.

Below we will give you an overview of all the quests in the different storylines. We will give you some basic information about the factions. In the associated tables you can also see some important tips for effectively processing the quest path in order to collect all the achievements, which we will explain in more detail later.

The main quests

The single-track main quest line ends with the infiltration of the Institute, where you are then given the choice of whether to join this fourth faction or not. Since this doesn't block any of the other paths, you can join without hesitation. From this point on, the game splits up and you have to continue following the mission series of one of the factions in order to get to the actual end of the game.

The Minutemen

The first faction you meet in the game is also the most peaceful of all. The Minutemen are the least involved in the events surrounding the main story. Nevertheless, you can still reach the end of the game with them. Since there is initially no real rivalry with any of the other factions, the Minutemen's break with them only occurs at the very end. In our faction guide to the Minutemen quests we will accompany you to the end.

While the ending is no different for Minutemen, Railroad and Brotherhood of Steel, pursuing the Institute's quests leads to its own conclusion to Fallout 4. In the course of this quest series you will inevitably become enemies of the Brotherhood and the Railroad. A Guide to the main quests of the Institute we have you covered in the final part of our solution.

The Railroad

You first learn about the Railroad in Diamond City through a conversation between two craftsmen as you make your way to Nick Valentine's office. If you overhear the conversation, the quest “Path to Freedom” should start automatically. With a little scavenger hunt through Boston you'll track down the group's headquarters. The Railroad want to free all synths from the clutches of the Institute and are therefore a clear enemy of this faction. Tip: All main tasks of the Railroad in the Fallout 4 factions quest guide.

As usual with the Brotherhood, they want to achieve supremacy with military strength and claim every useful technology for themselves.
