“Ricky Stanicky” exclusively on Amazon Prime Video

The film already has one on Amazon before its premiere eventful past. The script was included in Hollywood's “Black List” of unfilmed scripts 14 years ago. At that time, James Franco was still being considered for the lead role. Three years later there was still no film, but there was a new mime in Jim Carrey. Then Jeff Bushell should be replaced by Steve Oedekerk as director. What followed? Nothing!

The trailer for the film provides a first impression:

It wasn't until a decade later that the material was made into a film. The staging took over Comedy veteran Peter Farrelly. Together with his brother Bobby, we have him to thank for such comedy classics as “Dumb and Dumber”, “Crazy for Mary” and “Deadly in Love”. Peter Farrelly was and is also successful solo, even winning several Oscars in 2019 with “Green Book – A Special Friendship”.

For “Ricky Stanicky,” Farrelly worked with actors again Zac Efron together after both had already worked together on “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” in 2022. Also on board: wrestler and actor John Cena, who has become increasingly popular in recent years.

Who is this Ricky Stanicky?

But what is “Ricky Stanicky” actually about? Briefly outlined: Three friends invent an imaginary friend, which always has to be used as an excuse when the three of them want to go out and do their leisure activities without their wives. This works quite well, but then the women want to get to know Ricky. Now an actor has to come in (John Cena as Rod) and take on the role. For a better picture of the film, it's best to watch the trailer.

There are still no reviews for the film, neither on Rotten Tomatoes nor an IMDb rating. That's understandable, because no one has seen “Ricky Stanicky” yet and it premieres directly on Amazon Prime Video. At least those involved promise entertaining entertainment in advance. In this respect, you should give the film a chance in March.
