Exciting Upcoming Update: Major Changes on the Horizon

Dragon's Dogma 2 receives its first big patch exactly one week after its release. Unfortunately, some of the Insurgents will find themselves on the sidelines for a few days.

The first major patch for Dragon's Dogma 2 only concerns the Steam and PS5 versions. Xbox Series players will have to come back later. In any case, this update intends to bring changes eagerly awaited by the community.

First elements of response to the Dragon's Dogma 2 controversy

Quite quickly, Capcom is therefore deploying the first major patch for Dragon's Dogma 2. Announced a few days earlier, this intends to respond largely to the community's grievances, following the controversy caused in particular by the addition of microtransactions to the release of the game. If this update is not going to make them disappear, it adds many highly requested features.

Thus, it is now possible to start a new game from scratch, even if you already have an existing save. As a reminder, this was previously only possible via a microtransaction. Likewise, the “Art of Metamorphosis” scroll to change the appearance of your character can be purchased in game in 99 copies for rift crystals. This was until now only available in game in a few rare copies.

Pawn Performance Report

In addition to these features making their associated microtransactions more or less obsolete, players will especially remember the efforts made on the game's performance. On PS5, it is finally possible to make a few minor adjustments. For now, this concerns whether or not motion blur and Ray Tracing are activated. An option to set the framerate to 30 FPS max has also been added.

On Steam, DLSS will display better quality rendering, but will inevitably be reserved for RTX 2000 and newer graphics cards. Finally, character models receive a fix. Until now, these were displayed incorrectly depending on certain settings. You can read the patch notes for the game's first major update in full below, translated by us.
