Between Code 8 part 2 in February, The Three-Body Problem in March, and Parasyte The Gray in April, science fiction fans are served this year on Netflix ! In the absence of a new season of Black Mirror, which let's remember will not return until 2025 for its seventh season, fans of the genre still have something to sink their teeth into – and it's not over! Indeed, a new science fiction series will join the SVOD giant’s catalog this yearand this time it is a German production, like The Signal released earlier this month.

As we could see with Dark more than five years ago now, the Germans are quite good at this, and Cassandra, the next German sci-fi series, seems to have all the cards in hand to satisfy fans of the genre. The action takes place in Cologne, where a family moves into a house that has been vacant for 50 years now. But this is not an ordinary dwelling, since it is a question of Germany's first connected home. Created in the 70s, this residence is managed by a robot designed to help the family with their daily tasksbut whose objective seems to have changed after 50 years without contact with humans…

When robots turn against men

Fifty years after the suspicious disappearance of its owners, Cassandra comes out of its vigil to welcome Samira (performed by Mina Tander) and his family, and intends to do his best not to make their lives easier, but to ensure that they will never abandon him… A goal that sends shivers down the spine, and which anchors itself perfectly in the world of SF thrillers. We will undoubtedly find similarities with science fiction projects like Archivea film during which a man attempts to transplant his wife's consciousness into a robot, or even Ex Machina where an android hatches a plan to escape from the clutches of her creator.

Of course, the similarities are even more obvious with Smart House, a film where a connected house pretends to be the mother of a family of two children. But we have the impression that Cassandra will be much more persistent than PATand will perhaps even be inspired by the robot dogs of “Metalhead”, the fifth episode of the fourth season of Black Mirror… Either way, we can't wait to find out Cassandra in all its glory, and we'll let you know when its release date is revealed!
