Exciting Announcement for the Upcoming Gaming Console

The PS5 Pro continues to arouse interest, and the next console is still the subject of a few leaks which provide additional juicy information.

The video gaming landscape is once again in turmoil with recent revelations concerning the future PS5 Pro. According to the information revealed by YouTuber Moore's Law Is Dead (as usual), this new version of the Sony console has some nice surprises in store for its users. Between confirmations and news, what more do we know about this next improvement to the Sony console?

The PS5 Pro would have fairly fine engraving

At the heart of the debates is the processor of the PS5 Pro, which occupies a preponderant place. Everything seems to be confirmed again on this side, with a base on AMD's Zen 2 architecture, but benefiting from finer engraving at 4 nm. This promises increased energy efficiency and perhaps slightly improved performance. This change is significant, because a few months ago, in January of this year, the rumors spoke more of a 5nm engraving.

This is a positive development. With 4nm etching, the transistors are closer together, increasing transistor density and reducing power consumption for a given computing power compared to a wider etching process like 5nm . A notable advance is Sony's development of a new graphics technology, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. Apparently, this innovation is not simply a variation of AMD's FSR 4, but rather the result of a collaboration where Sony shared some of its research with AMD. This initiative could mark a significant step forward in improving the visual quality of games without negatively impacting performance.

A smaller console, finally?

As for the design of the console, rumors suggest a more compact model than the original PS5, while remaining more imposing than the slim version launched the previous year. This reduction in size could respond to a desire to make the console more harmonious in living spaces, thus addressing one of the criticisms often addressed to the PS5 for its notable bulk. This also corresponds to finer engraving.

On the economic side, Moore's Law Is Dead suggests that Sony could offer the PS5 Pro at around $500 for the version without a disc drive. This price positioning would be a bold bet by Sony to make the new console accessible while reflecting its technological advances.

Despite these developments, the need for a PS5 Pro at this stage raises questions within the game developer community. Christopher Dring of GamesIndustry.biz reports that many creators at the Game Developers Conference are questioning the wisdom of launching such an upgrade now.
