Despite several adaptations of the figure of Godzilla and King Kong, monster films are still as successful as ever. Just think about Godzilla x Kong: The New Kingdom, which was released earlier this month. In this film, the two titans must unite to fight a devastating threat. You will probably have noticed that this film is a direct sequel to Godzilla Vs Kong by Adam Wingard (Blair Witch, Death Note). As you guessed, this first feature this time highlighted a clash between these gigantic beasts. Besides, it is available on Netflix, like this other monster film with Dwayne Johnsonbut not for long.

King Kong Vs The Rock

In this monster film, led by Dwayne Johnson, there are numerous references to King Kong. And for good reason: Rampage is the adaptation of the video game of the same name. This 1986 software, released on an arcade machine, allowed the player to control three monsters, all created from humans. The first, George, was an albino gorilla (a sort of King Kong). The second, Ralph, was a Godzilla-like reptile and the last, a giant werewolf. The objective was quite simple: destroy as many buildings as possible by confronting the army. It is therefore from this simple, but clever, gameplay that the film by Brad Peyton (Daybreak, Sniper Elite) was born: '''Rampage, out of control.''

As explained previously, Dwayne Johnson (also known as The Rock) plays the leading role in this film. He plays Davis Okoye, a primatologist more interested in his giant animals than in humans. In particular, he is very close to George, an albino gorilla with whom he grew up. More than just an animal, George is a very intelligent and sociable creature. However, after undergoing a failed experiment, his behavior changes radically: he becomes aggressive and ferocious. Davis will have to do everything to save his friend. When it was released, Rampage didn't make everyone happy (45/100 on Metacritics), but it still received a good reception from the public.

If it is not revolutionary, he knew how to bring a touch of originality with this extraordinary relationship between the scientist and the gorilla. “The giant animal carnage crackles with fun ideas and flourishes throughout the film. Its second strong point is the comic alchemy of a superbly chosen cast which brings everyone in on the joke. », notes Telegraph. If you too want to discover this improbably effective duo, we invite you to go to Netflix urgently. Rampage Out of Control will leave the streaming service on April 30, definitely. Don't miss your chance.
