A few days ago, Capcom released the complete character editor for the open-world role-playing game Dragon's Dogma 2, scheduled for the end of March, and fans apparently made good use of the weekend. There are currently tons of community creations appearing online that consist of different characters that were created using the editor.

The results are surprisingly diverse. The fans really use every tool at their disposal, to push the character generator to its limits bring to. Especially when it comes to recreating a famous personality. Be it in the form of a real person or a fictional video game character.

The Triumph and Fall of Role-Playing Games: Character Editors

Geralt, Pikachu and Todd Howard as Awakened

In the story of Dragon's Dogma 2 we embody a character called the Awakened. These are people whose hearts were stolen by a dragon – and not in a romantic way. That's why your self-made hero always has a huge scar on his chest.

Everything else is completely up to you, and Dragon's Dogma 2's editor is so well developed and accessible that people can really conjure up all sorts of wild creations. Of course, the obvious thing here is to send other fantasy heroes on dragon hunts as awakened ones. How about the witcher Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher?

The fantasy protagonist par excellence is a little less warlike, but no less heroic: the ring bearer Frodo Bagginswho was also recreated in Dragon's Dogma – only as a human, because there are no hobbits here:

Last year, Baldur's Gate 3 made a lasting impression among role-playing game fans. This is now also evident in Dragon's Dogma 2. A fan used the editor to create the Githyanki warrior Lae'zel – who would probably rather ride a dragon than slay it.

Lae'zel is more of an anti-hero. Your role-playing game will be even less glorious if you start the journey as Breaking Bad lead role Walter White begins. Of course he does everything just for his family. Are there blue drugs in Vermund?

In general, it's amazing how accurately some fans can recreate real people using the editor. We think this version of is particularly successful Timothée Chalamet in his role as Paul Atreides from Dune, the second part of which is currently showing in cinemas.

But there are also fans who don't want to be famous actors or heroes. Some people just go as Todd Howard on an adventure trip. Will he get a little inspiration for Elder Scrolls 6?

The fact that the editor can't do everything is shown by a few more horrifying creations. For example, someone just tried to get one of the new furry beasts in a massive Pikachu to transform. The result is…shocking.

As I said, the internet is full of such creative images! Incidentally, in Dragon's Dogma 2 you don't even have to decide to roam the land as Todd, Geralt or Pikachu. The role-playing game allows you to take so-called vassals with you who will fight on your side.

You can also put together your main vassal in the free character editor. This means that one of the creations shown above can simply accompany you on your path. Of course, you can also just create the character you'll have the most fun with!

The game will be released on March 22, 2024. Until then, you can still play around with the free editor to prepare yourself. You can then simply incorporate your creation into the finished game.
