Cognizant purchases 26,000 Copilot seats for its service offerings

Determined to push generative AI into the arms of millions of users – who are also its customers – the American company Cognizant has just purchased no less than 26,000 Copilot seats from Microsoft. In detail, this concerns 25,000 Microsoft 365 Copilot seats for its consulting employees, as well as 500 Sales Copilot seats and 500 Services Copilot seats. “to improve productivity, streamline workflows and transform customer experiences.”

In addition, the IT and consulting services company plans to deploy Microsoft 365 Copilot to one million users across its 2,000 global customers and across 11 industries. As proof of its commitment to the American giant's products, it has trained 35,000 of its developers on Github Copilot thanks to its Synapse skills program, and 40,000 additional developers are expected to receive training soon.

Infuse AI wherever possible

The two companies have known each other for several years. The primary objective of strengthening this partnership is to spread Microsoft's flagship tool within Cognizant's corporate clients. The American consulting giant thus hopes to contribute to the estimated $1 trillion that AI is expected to inject into the GDP of the United States over the next ten years, according to a recent study published by Cognizant.

“Generative AI can be a game-changer for virtually every business in every industry, unlocking new possibilities for innovation, efficiency and growth”said Ravi Kumar S, CEO of Cognizant. “That’s why we’re investing $1 billion in generative AI over the next three years and leading the development of new research to explore its potential for our clients, their employees and their end customers.”

Joint work to target specific industries

Artificial intelligence is spreading like wildfire in certain sectors. Conversely, some are struggling to get to grips with this technology. Cognizant plans, with the help of Microsoft, to attack these sectors. In his report “New Work, New World”, Cognizant revealed that generative AI could automate up to a third of emergency doctors' tasks, which could help resolve staffing shortages, improve service quality and allow doctors to focus on patient health.

Generative AI can also accelerate procedure approval times from days to just minutes, eliminating delays and facilitating positive patient outcomes. To reach industries furthest from AI, Cognizant and Microsoft plan to leverage Copilot Studio, a platform where users can create and customize their own Copilots specific to industry and business functions, leveraging large language models, business applications and enterprise data.

Use cases in the manufacturing industry and in the media

Beyond this example, other sectors could be affected, including retail and consumer goods, financial services, life sciences, manufacturing, communications and media. To date, Cognizant already offers its services to several companies.

A media company is developing a generative AI solution for the translation and localization of video content, using Microsoft technology to provide accurate subtitles, dubbing and cultural adaptations. Another example: a manufacturing company looking to improve its remote technical diagnostics uses generative AI to help field technicians identify, analyze and resolve maintenance issues on its main products.
