Yoko Taro, the director behind Platinum Games' action role-playing game, is fully convinced about the upcoming PS5 exclusive title. In fact, he thinks it's better than his own work.

Stellar Blade is a really great game. I would say it's much better than NieR:Automata”

The director of “NieR: Automata” about the upcoming action adventure.

According to his explanation, the graphics are “absolutely next-gen quality” and the design of the characters is “amazing.” He particularly likes the cute female characters, but also the men.

Despite comparisons, “a completely different game”

It was clear to him that his work would be compared to “Stellar Blade”. But when you play it yourself, you immediately notice: It's a “completely different game.” According to Taro, the main reason for the comparisons is the petite female protagonist.

“If Stellar Blade had been the same game with a macho male character, I'm sure people wouldn't have pointed out the similarities. There just aren’t many games with a similar style,” explains the Japanese.

The fight was also discussed. Taro describes it as “very deep” and has to admit that he had problems with the first boss. His title “NieR:Automata,” on the other hand, was designed for RPG fans who are not that familiar with action-packed combat systems. Therefore, Taro and his team developed a simple system.

Hyung-Tae Kim from Shift Up then spoke about the level of difficulty. During development, he was somewhat inspired by Soulsborne games, because of which more and more demanding titles are coming out. However, he himself wanted to satisfy all players, which is why he decided on difficulty levels.

Stellar Blade is coming to PlayStation 5 on April 26th. The price is 79.99 euros. For ten euros more there is a digital deluxe edition with various additional content. If you haven't tested the game yet, you can download a demo.
