Head of Playstation Productions Asad Qizilbash recently spoke about the future of Sony games in a long interview shared recently on the giant's official website. He first stated that the firm intended to adapt more video games for the screen after the Uncharted film and The Last of Us series.

Asad Qizilbash also spoke at length about the future of the video game industry and once again affirmed the ambitions of Sony which now wishes to use artificial intelligence to be able to tell more “evocative” stories and so that video games are becoming “even more personalized” experiences.

Regarding the future of video games, I imagine games becoming more personalized experiences thanks to technological advances and artificial intelligence which will make it possible to design tailor-made experiences for each player. Additionally, technological advancements will improve the emotional depth of games by allowing characters to be more emotional and expressive, promoting more evocative storytelling. This will help a whole generation of creators who will be able to infuse much more emotion into their stories.

Focus on the story

For Asad Qizilbash, more than technique and graphics, the future of video games lies in the deepening of stories which is probably the first objective of Playstation.

The focus will shift from graphics or visuals to immersive stories that will resonate long after you put down the controller. Regarding Playstation's role in this evolution, I see it as a community-defined destination and a commitment to quality, unexpected and memorable experiences.

To accompany his thoughts, Asad Qizilbash illustrated his point by explaining how artificial intelligence and new technologies will make it possible to deepen stories and design personalized experiences for players.

Advances in artificial intelligence will generate more personalized experiences and more impactful stories for consumers. For example, NPCs (non-player characters) to interact with players based on their actions, making everything more personal. This is important for younger Gen Z and Gen Alpha, who are the first generations to have grown up digitally and are looking for more personalization and more meaningful experiences.
