What do you think about UFOs? These famous unidentified flying objects, otherwise called “flying saucers”, have been at the heart of various mysteries since the 40s and 50s. Mysteries that have caused sleepless nights for more than one, even entering the minds of film directors. Even today, many films feature aliens and their supersonic home. Among the most successful, we can notably cite Premier Contact by Denis Villeneuve (Dune 2), released in 2016, or District 9 by Neill Blomkamp (Gran Turismo). And… Steven Spielberg will also get involved.

Steven Spielberg and UFOs

Yes, according to information from Variety, The king of entertainment is considering a “UFO film” based on an original screenplay… It's obviously David Koepp who is in charge of the script. If this is the case, this would not be his first collaboration with Mr. Spielberg. From 1993, Koepp participated in the writing of Jurassic Park and its sequel, The Lost World. We also owe him the story of the “worst” Indiana Jones: The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The author is considered the “sixth most popular screenwriter of all time” (based on the receipts of his films in the USA) – but seems capable of the best and the worst! For the moment, no other details are known about this Spielberg project, which would mark his return to science fiction – 5 years after Ready Player One.

A beautiful and long career

In any case, at 77 years old, Uncle Spielberg does not seem ready to retire. On the sidelines of this film on the UFO, the director will serve as executive producer on the series Cape Fear (Apple TV +) alongside another master: Maretin Scorsese. Again, no details or release date, except that Cape Fear is basically a black and white feature film released in 1962 which was the subject of a rereading in 1991, by Scorsese. We expect more information soon.
