Star Wars fans have been waiting for decades for Boba Fett to finally get his own solo adventure. Nothing ever came of director James Mangold's planned film, but a TV series about the notorious bounty hunter started on Disney Plus in 2021.

But for many critics and viewers it fell far short of expectations. The Book of Boba Fett failed in its attempt to tell a story about a gangster boss with heart. Many fans were also bothered by the fact that Boba (Temuera Morrison) wasn't even allowed to be the star of his own series.

From episode 5 at the latest, The Book of Boba Fett suddenly focused on the return of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his reunion with Grogu. The idea quickly spread, that the series is more of one The Mandalorian: Season 2.5 equaled as a proper solo adventure for Boba Fett.

Ming Na Wen – the actress of Fennec Shand – seemed to have felt the same way. In one new podcast from her colleague Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan Kryce) explained that it was only on set that she realized what kind of series she was filming.

This isn't The Mandalorian?!

Wen talks about how her hairstylist Maria Sandoval asked her whether Ming-Na even knew the name of the current production. Wen was convinced that they would work on Season 3 of The Mandalorian – which shocked her colleagues a little.

Ming-Na Wen then sought out Temuera Morrison to get absolute certainty:

I only found out about it on set and then I ran up to Tem like a five-year-old and said Tem! Did you know this is a different series? So not The Mandalorian? […] And he replied Yes, this is The Book of Boba Fett. And I meant You knew it!to which he again simply replied, Of course I knew!

Wen emphasizes in the podcast with her colleague that a whole range of factors definitely contributed to her confusion – among other things, because she sees herself as very forgetful assessed. But considering what kind of series The Book of Boba Fett would ultimately become, one can hardly blame Ming-Na Wen for the mix-up.

By the way: While some people are actually hoping for a second season for The Book of Boba Fett (like Temuera Morrison himself), things are currently looking rather bad. Maybe there will be a reunion with Boba Fett and Fennec Shand in the first Star Wars movie after Episode 9: The Mandalorian & Grogu.
