Zenonia Chronobreak – Com2uS Holding launches pre-registration for its mobile MMORPG Zenonia Chronobreak

After a few years of development, Zenonia Chronobreak will be launched in the coming months on mobile platforms (before the end of June in Korea, then worldwide later). The MMORPG is the subject of a pre-launch campaign.

In 2009, the South Korean studio Gamevil launched the first Zenoniaand laid the groundwork for its mobile RPG license. It will experience some success with players (the developer claims more than 63 million downloads) and in 2021, following the merger of Gamevil and Com2usCom2uS Holdings announced the development of World of Zenoniathen presented as an MMORPG inspired by the license.

Since then, World of Zenonia has been renamed Zenonia Chronobreak and in anticipation of a launch planned for this year, the game is the subject of a pre-registration campaign on the official website, Google Play and the AppStore: fairly conventionally, the more players there are to pre-register, the more bonuses they will enjoy during the commercial release – scheduled for the first half of 2023 in South Korea, then later all over the world.

Com2uS is not verbose on the content of the game, but Zenonia Chronobreak therefore draws its inspiration from the license and claims a dynamic combat system. In addition, the “MMO” dimension of the project must take the form of large-scale PvP confrontations – this is illustrated by the cinematic trailer that the developer publishes on the occasion of the pre-registration campaign (here- below).

And what about Zenonia Chronobreak’s business model?Again, the developer remains unclear. In 2021 when the project was announced, Com2uS announced that it was backing the game to the ecosystem blockchain C2X in order to make it a play-to-earn project (allowing players to monetize their in-game activity). We know this is Com2uS’s credo, but we also know that gamers are rather resistant to it, as are the South Korean authorities – and no mention of a play-to-earn model is mentioned on Google Play or the AppStore (the game is subject to a PEGI+7 classification). We bet that the developer will provide clarifications as the commercial launch approaches.
