Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called Crimea and Donbass “eco-bombs in the center of Europe.”
He once again stated that the international community did not fulfill the security guarantees that were given to Ukraine.
“The planet received two eco-bombs in the center of Europe – the occupied Crimea and part of our Ukrainian Donbass,” TASS quoted Zelensky as saying in Glasgow at the 26th conference of the parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The Ukrainian leader added that Crimea, with its unique flora and fauna, became a naval base of the Russian Federation, and the mines of Donbass were flooded during the war, which led to soil erosion and a shortage of drinking water.
“And this is a common threat to the whole world,” — concluded Zelensky.
As Ridus wrote earlier, the Ukrainian authorities do not want Crimea and Donbass to return to the country, as this carries serious risks for them. This was stated by the former Minister of Transport and Communications of Ukraine and ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Yevhen Chervonenko. He claims that the ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, as well as the current leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, are afraid of the return of these territories, as the residents of Crimea and the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) will vote for the Opposition Platform – For Life party in the elections … This carries risks for the country’s authorities.
In turn, the head of the political council of the Ukrainian party “Opposition Platform – For Life” Viktor Medvedchuk called the restoration of trade and economic relations with Russia and the CIS a top priority for the Ukrainian economy.
