XDefiant: After the server test – status update on the release date

In a recent announcement, executive producer Mark Rubin not only discussed the recently completed server test of “XDefiant”. Rubin also gave us a status update on a possible release date for the multiplayer shooter.

After the multiplayer shooter “XDefiant” was postponed several times in the past, a server test recently took place with which the developers at Ubisoft San Francisco collected final data before the launch.

In a message to the community, executive producer Mark Rubin had a few words about the server test. Even though the community's feedback was not entirely positive due to various errors, Rubin says the team is satisfied with the results of the server test. The executive producer also stated that the wait for the release date should soon be over.

“The server testing session went very well from a scaling and server perspective. We still need to make some adjustments. Pretty simple stuff that will be done very soon if it isn't already done. And finally, the release date is coming up,” Rubin said.

The developers are working on these errors

Later in the statement, Rubin admitted that the team encountered various errors and issues during server testing, which the team is currently working on. On the one hand, Rubin is addressing the Delta 01 error, which may have led to problems with latency and should be resolved by the final release of “XDefiant”.

The same applies to the health displays, which were updated with a slight delay and sometimes gave the impression that hits did no damage. Finally, the executive producer responsible for “XDefiant” admitted that the developers “were not aggressive enough in their matchmaking.”

According to Rubin, this resulted in users having to deal with a higher ping than intended. Rubin added that the developers released a fix for this issue on the last day of server testing, so the community should have felt a significant improvement before the test ended.

The feedback from participating players on the server test was partly mixed. The movement in particular was described as too cumbersome by part of the community.

Other points of criticism that were raised during the server test included the not always convincing hit feedback or the spongy hitboxes.

Since those responsible at Ubisoft San Francisco have not yet commented on the community feedback, it remains to be seen to what extent the developers will make improvements before the final release of “XDefiant”. If the studio provides clarity in this regard, we will of course bring you up to date immediately.

“XDefiant” is in development for the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
