On Microsoft also became aware of the story.
The developed among developers Xbox Series S due to their manageable hardware capacities a kind of whipping boy. In the real world, however, the small console recently showed amazing resilience and is said to have even saved the life of a player.
But what happened? The enthusiastic gamer told the story on X (formerly Twitter). “Brandon J”as he recently visited his local GameStop to pick up an Xbox Series S. He completed the route on his bicycle. After “Brandon J” purchased his Xbox Series S, he made his way home with the console in his backpack, where an almost fatal incident occurred.
The driver of a truck overlooked the cyclist and ran him over. According to him, the fact that “Brandon J” was lucky and escaped with a broken foot and a few abrasions was mainly due to the Xbox Series S in his backpack.
Here's how Microsoft's console potentially saved a life
“Brandon J” described the accident: “I was on my way home from my local GameStop with the Xbox in my backpack when I was hit by a truck while riding my bike. At first I managed to keep myself over the bumper of the truck. However, I was subsequently dragged under him.”
“I was thrown to the ground and he still drove on. So I assume he didn't see me. The Xbox in my backpack prevented me from hitting my head or worse, dying.”
“I didn’t want to get torn apart under the truck. So I tried to slow the truck with my left leg. At this point my bike was stuck in my right leg so I couldn't move it,” “Brandon J” continued commenting on the accident. “Next thing I knew, my backpack was hanging off my left shoulder and was thrown against the curb along with me.”
“The truck hit me and dragged me three meters. I was subsequently taken to hospital with a single broken bone in my left foot and a few abrasions.”
Microsoft is providing a new console
The gamer accompanied his tweet with photos that make it clear that the Xbox Series S also suffered a lot in the accident. To his amazement, the battered console still plays games without any problems. “I thought the Xbox was over. But she started up without any problems and the games ran surprisingly well considering what she went through,” the gamer continued.
“If the Xbox hadn’t been in my bag at the time, a lot more could have happened.”
Also that one Xbox's official X account became aware of the story. Initially, Microsoft reached out to “Brandon J” with well-wishes. However, it didn't stop there. Instead, Microsoft also offered to send the player a new console. An offer that the player naturally accepted.
“We're so glad you're well and hope your recovery goes well,” said Xbox's social media team. “We know you mentioned that your Xbox is still working. But we'd be happy to send you a new one if you'd like! Would it be okay if we sent you a DM?”
So the events for “Brandon J” at least have a happy ending.
