Xbox asks: Can Microsoft challenge Apple and Google?

Microsoft continues to focus on gaming. The Xbox Series X|S is just part of a larger plan. Instead of gaming on the console, the tech company wants to compete with Google and Apple soon.

Microsoft is planning a store for mobile games

Microsoft is on the verge of a major gaming push. During the Bloomberg Technology Summit, Xbox President Sarah Bond announced the launch date for one own mobile game store announced. Initially, only our own mobile games will be offered at launch. Are safe candidates for this Candy Crush Saga and Call of Duty: Mobile. Both have been part of the Xbox family since the Activision-Blizzard takeover. Minecraft could also follow. However, external games will also be offered later. According to Bond, the store will initially only be available as a webpage and not as an app. With this, Microsoft wants to ensure that games are more easily accessible across different devices and countries (Source: Bloomberg).

There are currently no more details about the Microsoft Store for mobile games. It might be interesting, however, how high the fees are for use. Bloomberg notes that Apple and Google previously charge a fee of about 30 percent on sales. If Microsoft settles for less here, the new store should quickly become interesting for developers.
